The short answer
An AI assistant on its own cannot see what is being posted in your niche. It writes ideas from what it already knows. Connected to Viral Folder, it can run a real search, read the posts that reached far beyond their creators’ followers, and check an idea against them before it suggests it.
The connection is an MCP server, a standard way for assistants to use outside tools. You give the assistant one address, sign in, and approve it once. It is part of the Plus and Pro plans.
The setup steps for each assistant are on the AI assistants page.
Set it up
Setup takes a couple of minutes and no code.
- Copy the address
It is https://viralfolder.com/mcp. It is also shown in Settings, under AI assistants.
- Add it to your assistant
In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, and add a custom connector. In Cursor, add it under MCP in Settings. In Claude Code, run claude mcp add with the address. ChatGPT takes it as a connector in developer mode.
- Sign in and allow
A browser window opens on Viral Folder. Sign in, read what the assistant is asking for, and press Allow. You can disconnect it from Settings at any time.
Five requests worth trying
Each of these is one message. What the assistant does with it, and what it uses, is in the line underneath.
- “Research ‘meal prep’ on TikTok and tell me what the breakouts have in common.”
The assistant starts a search, waits for the posts, and reports the traits the breakouts share, their strongest openings and the top posts with their numbers. Uses one search.
- “Give me five ideas from that research for a brand that sells glass lunch boxes.”
It asks Viral Folder for ideas scored against the same breakouts, then fits them to the brand. No new search.
- “Score these three hooks and improve the weakest.”
Each hook comes back with a fit score, the breakout traits it has and the ones it misses. The weakest is reworked and scored again. No new search.
- “Who is winning ‘home workouts’ right now? Pull the best account’s top five posts.”
It finds the creators who rank for the niche, measures them, and turns one account’s best posts into research you can build on. Uses two searches: one to find the accounts, one for the pull.
- “Why did the second post work? Then save my best idea to my project.”
It breaks the post down into its hook, structure and pacing, and files the idea you picked in the project. No new search.
What it uses in searches
The assistant spends the same searches you do. Researching a keyword, finding accounts in a niche, measuring an account, pulling an account’s posts and reading a post’s comments each use one. Reading research you already have, ideas, scoring, saving and projects use none.
An assistant can run several searches to answer one broad request. Tell it how many it may spend, or ask it to check what is left first.
What to keep in mind
A fit score says how closely an idea matches what broke out in one search. It is not a forecast of views, from an assistant or from us.
The assistant works from public posts. It cannot see your private analytics, and it cannot post for you.
Account research covers TikTok for now. Keyword research covers TikTok, Instagram and X.
To run the same research by hand first, follow the TikTok niche research guide.
