calculator

Divide a video’s views by the creator’s followers. That multiple is how Viral Folder ranks a post against the account it came from. No account needed.

One post, two counts.

THE FORMULA

Views ÷ followers. Counts under 100 followers use 100.

In a Viral Folder search, a breakout is a post in the top third of that search by this number. One video’s multiple, on its own, does not say it broke out.

MAKE THE NUMBER USEFUL

How to calculate views ÷ followers

Take the video’s view count and divide it by the creator’s follower count. A result of 1× means the video was played about as many times as the account has followers. A result of 7× means it reached about seven times that following.

On 3 October 2026, a cleaning video from an account with 2,322 followers had 16,381 views. 16,381 ÷ 2,322 = 7.1×. That post is one of the examples in how to get more views on TikTok. The counts were recorded that day and will have changed.

Why accounts under 100 followers use 100

Dividing by 1 follower turns a handful of views into a huge multiple. Viral Folder counts any following under 100 as 100, so a new account is ranked on a fairer base. The result still says which posts reached past a tiny audience. It does not pretend the account has 100 followers.

What the multiple does not tell you

A high number means the video traveled further than the account’s following would suggest. It does not prove the hook caused that, and it does not predict the next upload. Compare it with other posts from the same search, captured on the same day. The top third of that list is what the lab calls a breakout.

Instagram does not show follower counts, so this formula is for TikTok and X. For likes, comments, and shares per view, use the engagement rate calculator. To see the multiple across a whole niche, read TikTok niche research.
