(Likes + comments + shares) ÷ views × 100
This is a count of interactions per view, not the percentage of unique viewers who engaged.
How to calculate TikTok engagement rate
Add likes, comments, and shares. Divide that total by the video’s views, then multiply by 100. If you include saves, keep that choice consistent for every video you compare.
For example, 600 likes + 40 comments + 60 shares = 700 interactions. With 10,000 views, that gives 700 ÷ 10,000 × 100 = 7%. These are illustrative numbers, not a performance benchmark.
What is a good TikTok engagement rate?
A single cutoff cannot tell you whether your video met its goal. Compare posts from a similar niche, format, and age using the same formula. A higher rate can suggest that a post prompted more interaction per view; it does not establish retention, sales, or why the post performed that way.
Engagement by views vs. followers
This calculator uses views as the denominator. A follower-based formula divides interactions by follower count instead and answers a different question. Keep the denominator visible in your reports so you do not compare different definitions.
Which counts should I enter?
Use counts from the same video captured at the same time. Enter exact numbers rather than shortened labels such as “10K.” A missing metric is unknown: do not enter zero unless the count is actually zero. Saves are optional because you may not have that count for another creator’s post.
